Language is power, life and the instrument of culture, the instrument of domination and liberation."

Angela Carter

Why Open Argot?

'Argot' means language. But it has overtones of secrecy, insularity; a code used by those with power, designed to keep outsiders away.

At Open Argot, we believe that for every person learning a second or third language - especially English in the 21st century - some of the barriers to achieving potential are broken down.

We're proud and happy to do what we can to help people improve their English, and play a bigger part in a world which often seems dominated by native English speakers.
